RYBELSUS® is being replaced by Ozempic® pill.

What are Ozempic® and RYBELSUS® tablets?

Ozempic® (semaglutide) tablets 4 mg or 9 mg and RYBELSUS® (semaglutide) tablets 7 mg or 14 mg are prescription medicines used:

  • along with diet and exercise to improve blood sugar (glucose) in adults with type 2 Diabetes
  • to reduce the risk of major cardiovascular events such as heart attack, stroke or death in adults with type 2 diabetes who are at high risk for these events

It is not known if Ozempic® and RYBELSUS® tablets are safe and effective for use in children.

Ozempic® tablets 1.5 mg, 4 mg, 9 mg work similarly to RYBELSUS® tablets 3 mg, 7 mg, 14 mg and have the same efficacy and safety as RYBELSUS®.

Frequently asked questions

Do I need a new prescription for Ozempic® pill?

Yes, if you are currently taking RYBELSUS® you will need a new prescription to move to Ozempic® pill.  Talk to your health care provider about moving to Ozempic® pill and what dose may be right for you.

Will my costs change?

Ozempic® pill will have the same coverage as RYBELSUS®. If you’re using insurance, your cost for Ozempic® pill will depend on your insurance plan.
